in response to dogeatdog...I do not condone what she said, the nigger comment really brings her massage to you to an entirely different level. However, I believe we have all done things in our life we regret. Let's not pass judgements like calling her man a lazy ass, calling her a lowlife, a bully, or questioning her mental status. If she were to apologize and do it with the right heart, we should accept it. If she chooses not to apologize seek comfort in the proverb I posted below. She will be judged just as the rest of us will when the time comes.
He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium. Reprove not an arrogant man, let he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.
-- Proverbs 9:7-9
Eating once a day is unacceptable. Make sure you eat, keep a roof over your head, basic utilities, and keep gas in the car before you pay any debt whatsoever!
Injure not the poor because they are poor, nor crush the needy at the gate;
For the Lord will defend their cause, and will plunder the lives of those who plunder them.
Be not friendly with a hotheaded man, nor the companion of a wrathful man,
Lest you learn his ways, and get yourself into a snare.
-- Proverbs 22:22-25
I've had this hanging on my wall for years. I draw inspiration from it, hoping some of you do as well:
I Do Not Choose to Be a Common Man
It is my right to be uncommon—if I can.
I seek opportunity—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.
I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say, “This I have done.”
in response to Ajax...How long have you been dealing with the nerve disorder from the cancer?
What type of business do you run? Is it an S or C corp? Depending on which you may actually be able to sell stock in your company to an interested investor. This would allow you some cash flow while still maintaining control of your business (providing you weren't to sell more than 49%).
I'm just throwing ideas out there based on the information you have provided.

in response to jkern2c...Your story is heartbreaking and I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how I would react if something were to happen to my son.
When I was 11 my youngest brother passed away after a fight with leukemia something like that can destroy a family. Talking with my parents many years later, they both said that the only way they got through it was because they had to immediately turn their attention to their other two children.
It's been almost 30 years since his passing, my mother doesn't mention his name as I believe she still struggles with it. My father on the other hand has no problem talking about it.
I live in the Allentown area which I don't believe is to far from you. I'm heading out of town tomorrow for a week but if you want to bend an ear over a cup of coffee or meal, when I return, i will be there.
Is it me or does every state of the union address contain the same rhetoric? Education, taxes, technology, clean energy, etc, etc...
It doesn't matter who the president is, it is the same thing over and over. Nothing ever really changes.
I love this country but cant stomach our government.

in response to daisydu...WOW.....I was not judging you in any way shape or form. I was confused about your situation based upon your initial post. If you go back and re-read it with a clear head, I'm sure you will notice you left much of what you added in your follow up posts out.
Admittedly, my response to your post could have been read in a cold and condescending manner. For that I do truly apologize as it was not my intention.
And for the record, I do know what it is like to lose EVERYTHING.

in response to daisydu...I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around the fact you lost a house, truck, and car all in one week due to legislation passed in your state. Unless you were already on the verge of losing these thing that scenario seems virtually impossible.
As for the evictions, those sound like gross violations of basic renters rights in any state. I realize you are searching for money, however, my advice would be for you to research your rights as a us citizen.
in response to lunar*star...The bill is supposed to help eliminate illegal piracy of TM material. It would make it illegal to share music files, movies, etc, etc... aka Napster.
However, the bill goes to the extend that sites like Facbook and Wikipedia would have to monitor everything anyone would say to ensure they would not incur any fines. Basically eliminating free speach on the internet.

I nominate bookworm and pjsmom to do all my shopping from now on! lol
I think I remember seeing a show called couponing once. They were following this family around a store and they filled three baskets costing them only around $150.
Honestly, how much time do you spend researching this in order to get those deals?
in response to seekinghelp2012...Consolidating debts is rarely the best way to go in trying to reduce your debt levels. Best thing to do is to develope a budget and a plan and stick to it.
in response to mommyonamission...I am really confused.
Your sons father refused to drive you to work, so you had to leave the house for a while until you had money to pay for his schooling???? Now he doesn't want to allow you to move back in???
